a sneak peak into a much needed facelift!

adam and i are giving a much needed facelift to one of the rooms in our house. here's a sneak peak! heh.

from bland to...

beautiful! well, at least i like it.

i added some pazzaz to these 2 twin lamps that i got "free" with a side table i bought a few years ago.

this 'lil project took me 'lil time. all it took: self-adhesive string of pearls for the top, a decorative charcoal colored pin for the middle, and a string of beads that i hot-glued to the bottom.

ta-da! i was thinking that i could switch out the pin throughout the year to match the season.

A Session at Leander ISD's February Conference

this past summer, i spent most of my summer in training which is one of the requirements to become a texas state-certified master reading teacher. i had a little bump in the road. i got rear-ended (actually on a lunch break from one of the last days of the training) which caused further damage to my neck. it was quite a pain in the neck! no pun intended, hah! luckily, despite the neck pain, i was still able to pass my mrt certification test.

so, when my school district had its annual continuous learning conference, i thought i'd take a chance to contribute. i did 2 sessions at the conference on "creating a reading group routine." it was such a good experience!
thanks to my school's instructional coach, my powerpoint had video clips of my reading groups in action throughout the week.

thanks to one of my students' parents, i had a poster illustrating my students using motions to remember what to do to "solve" an unknown word. you can kind of see it in the picture. the poster is to the left of the powerpoint.

i {heart} banners oh so much! i made a banner that reads "resources i love." sidenote: my sessions took place in a high school art room/studio, so there are other posters and such that i couldn't take down.

and another banner! these banners were the easiest to make. i just cut 2 sides out of a big yellow rectangle-shaped paper. then, i glued blue sticky notes down. i found the letters at wally world and they are sticky notes, too.
