lastnight, i had a dream that i was in haiti.
this morning, i woke up and the first thing i came across on the 'net was a news article and video about haiti. i HIGHLY recommend reading the article as it puts the economy into perspective talking about how tragically hard 3rd world countries are being hit by our economy right now.
something else i love that this article mentions is how lucky we are to live in a society that has systems in place to support us.
- we have public schools for all kids to go to.
- we have toilets to use.
- we have the knowledge of sanitation practices and how they can impact our health.
- we have a government that was set up in a way to support business and industry; on the contrary, 3rd world countries are struggling to meet the basic needs of their people through agriculture because of a variety of reasons including lack of rou esources, proper training, and land.
- our country does have support set in place for people that hit rock bottom and need some extra income (although it's not perfectly distributed as we have WAY too high of a homeless population and that is unacceptable).

- you will have to register to the new york times in order to see the article. it's free to register though.
